Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House is located on 80 acres of gently rolling meadows and wooded countryside just 40 miles northwest of Chicago. A beautiful outdoor patio with a fountain and garden, a gazebo Shrine to St. Joseph, Suzi’s Memorial Butterfly Garden, and an outdoor crucifix garden all provide a quiet, peaceful setting for reflection and spiritual contemplation. Indoors, the chapels, conference center, comfortable lounges, library, and individual private rooms maintain a comfortable and tranquil environment for retreatants — a spiritual “home away from home.”
Bellarmine offers Ignatian silent retreats for men and women adapted from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. A wide variety of other retreat experiences are held at Bellarmine, including Kairos retreats for teens, 12-step retreats for those in recovery, as well as private and directed retreats. Jesuit and lay colleagues collaborate in planning retreats and spirituality programs.
In addition, Bellarmine extends its hospitality to parochial schools, churches, and other ministries and recovery programs that share in our vision and core values. Bellarmine offers these organizations a sacred space of stillness and peace to host their own retreat programming there. A variety of sacred spaces, numerous meeting rooms, extensive rolling meadows and forested perimeters, and a wide array of homemade menu options make Bellarmine an excellent place for groups and individuals to hear God’s voice resounding in the depths of their hearts.
